WHAT WE DO
The James Baker Hall Foundation believes creating art is a sacred gesture, a vehicle to change lives and build communities. We celebrate the legacy of past great Kentucky writers by investing in future great Kentucky writers. Our work is to create more interconnected spaces where community can happen, where art is made, where creativity is valued and character shapes the voice of Kentucky writers. As our programming was taking shape, Robert Gipe, Novelist, Poet, and community organizer, saw the winning formula for the Foundation: “seek out successful programs in Kentucky and help them become more successful.” We took his advice to heart and our growth has been grounded in a collaborative spirit.
